               desperation colors his voice. his throat feels too thick to continue immediately, almost as if he’s allergic to the thick gulp of air he had swallowed for courage. telling the others had gone SPECTACULARLY wrong; allura doesn’t look at him the way she used to, pidge gathers up her things to work elsewhere when he enters the room, hunk won’t stop asking to touch him and asserting that he’s a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSON now. 

                                          as if that isn’t exactly what keith is afraid of.

               ❝I really can’t deal with anybody else freaking out over this, okay? Just – do me a favor and. I don’t know. Pretend it’s okay? Pretend I’m not a freak or the enemy or – …at least until I leave the room? Please.❞ 

               lance is asking for an answer too direct; he’s asking for something that keith just isn’t capable of right now. how can keith bring himself to say the words if no one he cares about can bring themselves to listen?
